Supervision & Training

01. Supervisory Matrix

• Led by licensed, doctoral‑level psychologists

•  Minimum of two hours of weekly individual,
face-to-face clinical supervision; one hour of weekly group supervision & one hour of testing/assessment supervision.


• Emphasis on case conceptualization, evidence‑based interventions, and professional identity development

• Supported by direct observation, recorded sessions,
and group consultation


• Primary supervisor maintains full clinical and legal responsibility while supporting intern autonomy and entry‑level readiness

02. Didactic Training Curriculum


• Two hours of weekly, structured instruction aligned with the 9 APA Profession‑Wide Competencies

• Sequential seminars on advanced clinical formulation and integration of evidence‑based research

• Focus on developing a refined and sophisticated professional identity

• Specialized modules on ethics, California‑specific law, and risk management

• Training in sustainable private‑practice skills: ethical billing, medical‑necessity documentation, and maintaining healthy clinical boundaries

Salary & Perks

Salary: $40,000/YR

Health Insurance Stipend: $350/MO

Internet Stipend: $20/MO
Paid Sick Leave: $500/DAY @ 5 Days/YR
Parking Pass: $80/MO
Vacation: 10 Days, non-paid
(in addition to major holidays).

Sample Weekly Schedule

Individual Supervision: 2 hrs
Didactic Training: 2 hrs

Testing Supervision: 1 hr

Group Supervision: 1 hr
Consultation: Unlimited
Direct Service: 2o hrs
Documentation: 6 hrs

Reading: 5 hrs

Peer Supervision: 1 hr
Community Outreach: 2 hrs

Future Career Path

01. Internal Fellowship Pipeline

High performing interns are prioritized for the practice’s fully-fledged Post Doctoral Fellowship program, which provides the comprehensive supervised professional experience (SPE) necessary for California licensure.


02. Staff Phycologist Advancement 

Upon licensure, fellows have the opportunity to transition into permanent staff positions within our specialized private practice framework.


03. Leadership & Faculty Roles

We provide clear pathways for clinicians to advance into Clinical Supervisory and Administrative Leadership roles, becoming integral members of the internship
training faculty.



04. Private Practice Mastery

Beyond clinical skills, our mentorship prepares graduates for the ethical administration and business management of a modern, doctoral level private practice.

Application Process

We welcome your questions!  
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a doctoral, degree-granting program in professional psychology
(Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology).  Additionally, all applicants must have successfully completed all required academic coursework within their doctoral program prior to the start of the internship year.

 
Urban Psych is currently an applicant for APPIC Membership.  This program is not currently an APPIC Member.  Urban Psych cannot guarantee
that it will be successful in its application for APPIC membership, nor that it will be an APPIC member in time for the 2027 Match.
